The Information Technology Computer Support Center has announced a fee based service for laptop and desktop computers. This service will provide faster access and extended service for students, staff, and faculty laptop computers.

The new service will offer cleaning of malware, spyware, and viruses. The computer will be setup to access the Campus Area Network (CAN). The latest version of the campus site license McAfee antivirus program will be installed and any operating system patches and updates installed. Wireless, Ethernet, and dial-up access software (specifically "Clean Access" or VPN client software) will be installed as needed.

Off-site desktop service will be limited to students living in the residence halls. Personal laptop and desktops will be accepted for service from all students, staff, and faculty by appointment only in the Computer Support Center offices, Northwest Annex Building A Room 137. Laptop and desktop owners must stay with the computer while work is being done due to physical security concerns.

Fees for this service will be charged and collected by the office of the Bursar. The costs for this service will be $15 for the initial consultation and the first hour, and $15 for each additional hour. The minimum fee will be $15. A waiver form releasing the University from liability will also need to be signed at the time of the appointment.

Our friendly knowledgeable staff will take care of any connections problems you might have here at SIUC. We help with connections to Dial-up, Rez-Net, and Wireless services here on campus. By bringing your computer into us directly we can give you the assistance that you are needing since we are the providers of the service.
